Lectures = good!

Since I did SO much yesterday I'm only writing about the really interesting parts so here it goes...

Anyway, I had a very successful Journalism lecture. I was a little scared of writing a news story. Mine wasn't partically good I don't think, at least, the lecturer didn't say anything good or bad about it so I guess it's kind of a plus that I knew I was doing it right! To be fair, he didn't really read any of the articles properly, he was focusing on introductions. Half-way through the lecture a girl in our class asked to leave the room because she felt faint. It was really hot in there and there were no windows you could open or air-conditioning or anything! Poorly designed or what?! I mean, it's a computer room for goodness sake! So she walked outside and all of a sudden we heard this thump sound. She'd passed out in the hallway. So the lecturer spent most of the rest of the lesson sorting it all out! I saw the girl today, she said she was fine so that's good. I understand. I've fainted a couple of times! I'm very sensitive to temperature. At the end of the lecture, Dan (the teacher) asked what kind of follow-up story we could do. I was the first to call out an answer and he disagreed with me at first, then apologised for being a little too harsh, then decided it was actually a really good idea! Got him round to my way of thinking! Win.

I got an email from OPM on facebook asking everyone to submit a little piece about what was there favourite blu ray film and why. I thought I'd send one in, you had to send a picture too so I sent one of my newest ones that I really like. I then got an unexpected reply from Nathan commenting on why I had a gamecube controller in my hand! I explained that I was at uni and therefore could not afford a PS3. He sent another email back. I think with all this correspondence, I might just get in the mag! Another win.

Later on me, Rachel, Lewis and Ellie went to a cinema appriciation society film showing. They were showing superbad. I'd never seen it and it's kind of one of those must-see films, in fact, none of us had seen it! The "president" of the club was really cool and friendly and we met some nice people there. We got free pizza and popcorn! I loved this club already! He explained it was £3 to join and we did all that at reception (I joined today, yay). They're going to do a film showing every week so if I've got nothing to do, might as well go along and see a free film. Superbad was hilarious. If you haven't seen it, see it. It's very, very funny. So very silly but just a classic. We made a new friend at the film showing. This awesome guy called Joe. He was obviously older than us but he was a first year student and he was living at middle mill! I commented that he had good taste, I mean, the guy had a freaking ghostbusters cap that glew in the dark and a Hobgoblin T-shirt! I let him know where to get it for £1 a bottle too, mwahaha!

Afterwards we all headed back to block B and sat in our kitchen. Lewis had said he would make me and Ellie a bacon and egg sandwich because we always make him tea. He said to the others he would go back and get the food because "Ellie and Laura practically had an orgasm when I suggested it so I'd better make them one!". Haha! Next thing I know he's back, with no food, very hyper, suggesting we go bowling for free and saying he'd just drunk Monster energy drink. Oh dear. Ellie wasn't keen on going but Lewis somehow persuaded her so we all set off to go bowling. I couldn't believe it was free but it is! Every tuesday, if they have a lane free, students play for free! Amazing!!! We had to wait for an hour but eventually we played bowling for nothing! Lewis set up the game and at first he put me as "Laura" but since I'd been playing as "Minx" on super smash brawl. He renamed me as Minx! He understands because he saw my dogtag and I explained it was from my gaming clan and he high fived the gaming clan lol. Lewis is a fan of the minions! Kinda...hehe. I wasn't too bad actually, we all had the barriers up except Joe but they didn't really work so only one barrier was up! Lewis one, by cheat tatics but it was good free fun!

I'm sorry

I need to get some sleep and have been busy all day today (will hopefully tell you more tomorrow) but basically at the moment I have this feeling I just can't shake...

I feel kind of guilty. It sounds utterly stupid I know but I'm scared I'm going to lose old friends by making new ones and not speaking to other people enough. I guess it's because uni life seems to be very frantic and there's actually not many opportunities where I am by myself or sat at the computer long enough to have a decent conversation as I'm interrupted by people coming round and stuff. I love it that I'm not bored of course but I do worry. I still love absolutely all of my true friends and I hope that they know that.

Weekly Shop

Sunday is shopping day. We all had a bit of a lie in then me, Ellie and Matt walked to the shops to buy food. I didn't spend that much money at all! Win! I just hope it last me until next sunday! Think me and Ellie are going to try and find ASDA for next sunday because it's not too far away apparently and they do loads of stuff for like a quid so it should work out nice and cheap. We trailed around awful sports shops so Matt could get a few bits for the gym and the sports clubs he's joining! That guy spends so much money. Such a nub. Anyway our hands were absolutly aching from heavy shopping so we got home and dumped our stuff and took a rest. Me and Ellie then decided to pop down to Primark to get a couple of bits and look around. I only got some socks but hey, they were needed. When it came to paying, Ellie couldn't pay! Her pin number on her card wouldn't work. It was a new card too. So I saved her and paid for her stuff to avoid too much embarassment. She then rung her mum to tell her what was going on. We then went to her bank to see if they could sort things out for her otherwise she'd have no money! She thanked me over and over again for saving her. I said it was fine, don't worry about it, etc.

We got there and I sat down. I saw Ellie talking to the woman and she started crying. I thought that couldn't be good. I was a little worried but her and the woman went off to have a private chat and sort things out so I said and waited. Bored out of my skull. When she came out I asked if it was sorted. And basically, they have to send her a new pin to her home address which could take a week plus, especially as her mum has to foward it onto her. The bank said that she could get money out without her card just so she can survive! Phew! So she was a little upset and worried but it's worked out okay now.

I got home and got on facebook to ask what time rock and roll bingo was. No one responded to my status. Then Lewis popped up on my chat window, we were chatting about a few things and then I mentioned how I'd kill for a really huge pizza right now. I was starving at the time, hadn't eaten much all day. He suggested we all ordered a couple (the 5 of us) then we come round mine and game! I said that would be frickin' perfect! So the plan was on, we asked the others (ellie, Matt and Rach) and they all agreed so before I knew it Lewis was at my door, soon followed by Matt and Rach. I had vouchers for buy on get one free at Dominos and they delievered, win! So we ordered a texas bbq one and a meateator! Nom!!! We were starving at this point, drooling at the thought of pizza! We played some games on the wii while waiting and then it arrived. We ate it so fast and my God were they good. I prefered the meaty one but the bbq sauce (which was on both I think) was so, so good. Best, sauce, ever!!!!! We played some more games and then decided to walked over to Knights Park and then see if this rock n' roll bingo had started...

When we got there it was dead. It's hardly ever dead! We were so shocked I said "Omgwtfroflcopter" which made everyone laugh as it was so random! There was a total of three people in the bar and there was certainly no sign on bingo so we left. Lewis had the brainwave of getting his poker set and playing some cards. Matt invited us to his kitchen to play as the large table would make card games so much easier. We played poker (not strip poker, no.) and a few other card games, too many to name! I wasn't very good. Never have been! One we did play in particular which was the most fun was Donkey. It involved passing cards round at a manic speed then shouting Donkey and diving for an object in the middle, we used apples. The person without an apple, got a letter added to there name. It was a very noisy game. One of Matts neighbours who I met on the second night, Tabbitha came and joined in too.

Basically, we were so loud, one of the neighbours came in and said "What's going on in here? All we can here down the hall is girls screaming and men grunting!" We all pissed ourselves laughing! Then showed him the noisy, crazy game which gives you such an addrenaline rush! Was so much fun. Lewis was as hyper as always but said he was more-so excited because he'd seen his girlfriend that day and was on a high. Aww! Bless him! He must really love her :). Was nice to here a guy say that out loud to his mates. After all the cards games we went home early. I needed to be up early the nextr morning and everyone was pretty knackered. The jokes of the night? We were doing everything "like a bawse" (I showed Lewis the vid as he hadn't seen it!) and we were jizzing in our pants alot. Another Lonely Island song we all loved :D. Funny times. Also, Lewis tried to lean with half his body out of my window shouting "GOODBYE CRUEL WORLD!" people stared and him! XD Crazy guy.

A geeks night in

Yet again on Saturday I invited everyone round to come over to mine to do something, didn't care what really. Lewis couldn't come because he was in St. Pauls until later but Rach and Matt came round. We played some more games on Lewis' Wii, Rach was getting better on Mario kart! Though we did set the AI to easy...we played until people were getting hungry and needed to start preparing dinner but they said they'd be back later. I had defrosted my chicken so I made BBQ chicken with chips again but I didn't have any veg to join it! Bad times. This is why I'm going shopping today! So anyway I was cooking my dinner when I got a buzz at the door. I answered the phone and it was Lewis so I ran downstairs to let him in. I told him the others had gone home now but would be back later. He said that was fine he only wanted to pick up the bag he left round mine yesterday. So he picked up his stuff, he asked whether I watched any of the videos he'd told me to and we had a laugh about those. He asked me to text him later if any gaming was going down so I said I would and let him leave.

The time until Mini Minion arrived was drawing nearer, Martyn was teasing us with our texts! I couldn't take the tension! Well okay I could but I think we all wanted the baby to hurry up and come out!

At around 8 I text everyone and invited them round, Ellie was now home and said she'd pop by and see everyone when they arrived. Lewis arrived first, keen as ever and wanted to play super monkey ball so me and him had a grand prix race. The points ended up as a tie! Not bad! Ellie then joined in as we tried to balance our monkeys on stages and get to the finish line. Was funny. Matt and Rach then arrived and we played Mario Party but Matt stepped out this time as he won the last two games! So instead he brought his camera and took pics (as shown above), got some great pics of all of us being geeks! I won with Daisy! Get in! We then played some more Wario Ware but Ellie went to bed, really early because she was so shattered from being in London all day poor girl!

Lewis was about to leave because he needed to be up early next morning to go to Guildford to see his girlfriend (good luck with getting the horrible train to there!) but before he went he had a brain wave. He said let's try and make a black hole in super smash brothers melee because there's a glitch to do it that only appears in that game (it doesn't work in Brawl). So here's vagually how we did it. Lewis was Peach, I was Fox, Rach was Birdo and Matt was Ness. We picked a map that had two raised platforms that were in-line with each other. Lewis first had to use a glitch to get unlimted ammo with a certain gun, which we did very easily. Peach then got onto one of the platforms with Birdo infront of them. I was on the other platform with Fox. Both me and Birdo had to do our reflect move. Peach would then shoot and because Birdo was on their team, Birdo wouldn't get affected by the gunfire, thus going straight past him and bouncing off my reflect, which would then bounce of Birdos reflect, making a chain of some sort. Ness down below needed to jump inbetween this constant back and forth fire to disrupt the chain until tight circles appeared and it was obvious it was working. Me and Birdo would now be stuck, unable to move. Thank God because my controller was virbrating like mad which made my arms feel very funny! I put my controller down and watched it move across the floor! Was funny, thought the vibrate function was going to break!

Then what Peach needed to do was the get below the fucked up rift thing and throw 15 raddishes into the line of fire. Then either Fox of Birdo needed to be knocked off as neither of us could move of our own accord. Once that was done the Raddishes stayed in the "black holes" spinning round and round. The background music was gone, the black hole was making the weirdest sound ever! The controllers were still going crazy and there was extreme lag. Everything was moving in slow motion like the console couldn't take the frame rate the game wanted to play at! We were pissing ourselves laughing, it was so funny. Matt filmed some of it and put the videos on facebook. Ness then set the black hole on fire! Which made it even more mental and basically if you jumped into this black hole, you'd get stuck until your damage taken went to 999% then all you had to do was flick your joystick in one direction and your character would come flying out and instantly die! Was fucking mental! Eventually the Wii couldn't take it anymore and the game froze! The controllers were still rumbling but the weird sound had stopped and the background music came back! Was fucking weird!!!!!! At that time we knew it was time to go so everyone left expect Rach who stayed for a little bit and chatted. Think she was a bit tipsy from drinking a litre of cider! She then left so I let Alex know he could ring because he asked if he could.

I heard nothing for ages and assumed he'd gone to sleep. But I stayed up none the less and spoke to Iain and JB on msn for a bit. Then Alex rang and I got off msn, we talked about some very weird and fucked up thing! Was hilarious. Then I realised I got a text so I checked my text and it was from iain asking if I'd heard the news. I assumed he meant Martyn but Alex had got no text. So I quickly logged back onto msn and Iain gave me all the info. The baby had indeed come! After I got off the phone to Alex my message from M arrived, containing a picture of a gorgeous baby girl called Wren. I wasn't sure about the name at first but actually, I rather like it. It's unique, much better than a boring name like Laura :P. Nah, I like my name really, hehe.

A Wii bit of fun

I didn't do much all yesterday morning. I wondered if Lewis' idea of him bringing the Wii round was ever going to happen as I had got no text from him. So, at around 2ish I text him saying "Are we still Wii-ing it up?". No reply (you'll find out why later) but then I got a buzz at the door, I went downstairs and there was Lewis holding a TV, looking like he might drop it any second! So I quickly let him in and rushed upstairs to unlock the door for him. He came into my room and started setting up the Wii and TV. He did warn me that his Wii is incrediably loud but it still works fine. He was right! When it's switched on it sounds like an electric shaver! He said "you get used to it", it's true, after a while you don't care/realise it's there. You're having too much fun.

We started off by playing a game of Mario Cart. He had the wheels and everything for it but I was awful at it, I'm too used to controllers! He of course utterly pwned me. Then there was another buzz at the door and it was Matt who said Rachel was also coming. Party at my place then! :D I stole all the chairs from the kitchen so everybody could sit down without being on the floor. Then Rachel buzzed the door so yet again I had to run up and down stairs! At least being on the top floor gives you plenty of exercise! We played a three way mario cart (I used my gamecube controller). Rachel wasn't too interested in playing as she was more of a PC gamer but she loved watching us and laughing at our fails. There was a lot of "you inked me!" jokes and Rachel, the dirty minded girl went "ewwww". Haha!

We then tried 3 way brawl. I love the fact you can have special finishes on this one, I played as Snake in the first round and his special was a grenade launcher that you could safely fire at everyone of screen! Gotta love Snaaaaake! Matt had a genius (or not as the case may be) idea of creating his own level which contained nothing more than a few falling blocks. So basically, we ended up pissing ourselves laughing because we were all struggling to take people out whilst falling almost all the time! It was so funny! In one game we all played as Kirby whos main move is to well erm...suck people up. At one point Lewis said to me "You sucked me before I sucked you!". Many a lulz were had.

Then it was time for Wario Ware, smooth moves which I had never played. It's hard to explain but basically the screen tells you to put your controller into a certain position e.g. mowhawk (holding it on your head) or elephant (holding it like a trunk), there are more simpler ones too like the remote control. Then you are told to do something (it's like a mini-mini game!) within a few seconds. E.g. If you're in Mohawk position, you often have to bow at the right time as everyone else does on screen. In a nutshell, you have to be super quick! There are lots of other modes of play too, like a simple game of darts. You hold your Wii remote like a dart then throw it at the screen, well, jerk your hand foward anyway, don't actually throw it ;). I won the first game of darts perfectly! Winrar! Ellie then came home from London so I invited her into my room and she played with us. There was a great game were you were partners tied together and you had to jump over pot-holes. You had to be really, really quick. People were actually jumping at first, God knows what the people downstairs thought was going on! But then we realised you don't actually need to jump, just jerking the controller upwards works just as well.

We then switched back to Mario Kart and got Ellie and Rach involved this time. Lewis sat out and gave "advice". Though, to be honest, he told me I picked a rubbish car with Peach but I actually beat Matt! As Matt said he was the best at this, pah! All lies, he got pwned by the Minx! Rach and Ellie were...pretty awful but it was there first go so what can you expect, at least they were up for getting involved and having some fun :).

Lewis then decided it was time to have some dinner but he'd leave all his stuff round here which I was fine with. Everyone else left too. I had some mini pizzas for tea and Ellie had her dinner too then she went to go and get ready as her and Lewis were going to the Freshers Ball. She didn't know what to wear and she took ages to get ready, I had to run downstairs and let Lewis in for her. He'd had a shave! I didn't notice until he pointed it out but he asked me if it was a good idea for him to have shaved or not. I didn't give the best response lol. I basically explained that I like guys with a bit of stubble and he said "Oh okay, oh well it will grown back I suppose!". Even Rach and Matt had told him not to shave! Silly guy. He then started telling me about two things I must look up tonight if I wasn't doing anything. John Lajoie who takes the piss out of rappers with songs like "Show me your gentitals", very, very funny! And also therewillbebrawl.com which is a live action version of Mario and Luigi essentially! They make Princess Peach a whore! Sleeping with both brothers! Tisk tisk! And Kirby has little spikey teeth and is an insane cannibal. It's very well done, trust me, you should definatly check it out.

So yeah, I watched some videos then Matt and Rach came round to play on my gamecube. We played a very long game of Mario Party then had a race in super monkey ball and then Matt had a go on Luigis' mansion as me and Rach watched. At quarter to one they decided it was time to go but they might be back round tomorrow. I had the most awesome day, it's amazing that we all have simular interests and have been brought together by sheer geekery! Much fun! But don't worry minions, you're still my favourite gamers :) <3

Freshers Fayre

Yesterday, Ellie knocked on my door and said she was going to the Freshers fayre with a friend from her class and asked if I wanted to come. I thought why not, I either had to go today or tomorrow and it's always nice to have someone to go with! Her friend was very friendly, Lewis also came along, he was wearing a fantastic orange t-shirt with a raccoon on ski's on it. So we walked to Penryn road and walked into the first tent. It was absolutely packed with people, it was difficult to move and I had all sorts of people trying to get me to sign up for things and give me leaflets and such. So many Goddamn Christians trying to give me leaflets, argh! Anyway me and Lewis signed up to the "Anime and games society". I'm not into anime big time but I do like some of it so I thought why not! I asked to sign up, the two blokes at the desk looks like your typical geeks. I did wonder what I was getting myself into! I got quizzed whilst signing up! One of the guys was asking me if I was more into gaming or anime, I said gaming and he was explaining how they'd like to get that side of the society off to ground better. Then I got asked "Console or PC?". I said "Console!", of course, I then got asked which console and I explained how I was a Playstation girl but I can't afford a new one at the moment so I only have a gamecube with me. I did, for a horrible second, think I would be the only female in this club but I saw the person before me was called Jenny, phew! I guess the female members are more likely to be there for anime though. I hope it doesn't revolve around it too much!

We eventually got to the other tent, in there we got free monster energy drink, winrar! I also signed up to a cinema appreciation society which means free/cheap film viewings! Speaking of which, I'm going to get to see the film "9" a month early for FREE next Friday at 11pm! Epic fucking win! So after picking up loads of free shit we decided to get some free lunch. Well it was planned to be free but we ended up buying more food! D'oh! We had a leaflet for free winglets at Frangos (a blatant rip off of Nandos in every single way!) so we made our way there and had some lunch. It was nice, not as good as Nandos though, it felt like a cheap copy or something! Lewis joked that he was taking out two pretty ladies for lunch, bless him. After lunch, Lewis played Guitar Hero Arcade and then we walked home through the park which was very nice. We then agreed we might all meet up later for a bit tonight, so we said our goodbyes and left. Ellie had a lecture to go to but I soon got a text from Matt asking if he could come round for a bit. I said he could so he came round, looked at my video games, my sackboy and showed me some funny videos on youtube. Everyone who comes into my room gets so jealous because it's the biggest one they've ever seen! Mwahaha! For once I have been incredibly lucky! Makes a change eh.

Later on, MUCH later on, me Ellie, Rachel, Lewis and Matt just hung out in the kitchen for a couple of hours until about 1:30am just talking. Funnily enough the "Communal condoms" striked a conversation about sex, birth control and different types of condoms. So very funny! Us students really do have a one-track mind haha! I don't think that will ever change no matter what age we are to be honest! We did get some hilarious condoms in this packet though, we were trying to figure out just how large you'd have to be to be "large" or indeed "extra large"! Sheesh! Rachel had drunk 2 litres of strongbow, which is about 10 units! She was on the drunk train again, as she calls it! Lewis hasn't drunk a drop of alcohol in his life! He made a bet with his mum, at age 12, that he would not drink before his 18th. His mum didn't believe he could do it so she bet him £500! He did it and got the £500!!!! Ever since he's just decided he might as well carry on being sober. Pretty damn impressive, got to respect him for that. Plus he's absolutely mental anyway, adding alcohol would probably rip a hole in the space time continuum or something! I love Lewis, he's so, so funny! I love all my new friends, they're awesome :D <3.

Knights of Comedy

Went to a comedy club thing last night with Matt and Ellie. We sat in the second row because we didn't want to be picked on by the comedian. We got there at 6:30 to be nice and early because they said the doors shut at 7. Complete and utter bollocks. The gig didn't start until at least 8! So we were sat there for ages, and when there are three of you, sitting in a row, it's hard to keep up a conversation! Anyway when the gig DID start we had 3 main acts and a presenter (who was very funny too). The first act was a young guy who actually went to this uni he was also from Portsmouth! He was very funny, very rude and dirty (just how I like it! :P). He did do this joke about a porn video website and was saying he watched this video called "Laura loves big cock". I loled.

After him we had a 15 minute break. I survived on one drink the whole evening to save money. I am currently addicted to Jack Daniels and coke, mmmm! Then we had another act who was fucking mental! He looked like Darius Danesh (pop stars anyone??) and was either Spanish or Italian. But he loved to shout and swear, he was fecking crazy! But so, so funny. I was crying with laughter. He was really good looking too, just off his fucking rocker. The only thing that annoyed me about the entire evening was there was this girl in the front row who seemed to be something of an attention whore. She wouldn't shut up and therefore got picked on by comedians, she was such a dumb girl too. She was either drunk or putting it on. Very annoying anyway! It made for some funny material though. The crazy 2nd guy took her mobile phone because she was texting one during the gig right infront of him and rang her dad! I didn't think he'd actually ring him but he did because when he gave it back to the girl, she had to explain things to her dad! Hehe, stupid girl.

The last act failed though. I think he was meant to be the warm-up act but was late on the train (fatality on the line and all that jazz). Basically, he was going well but he wasn't making me laugh, just smile which is huge achievement in itself because it's very, very easy to make me laugh as you all probably know. Not sure if that's a good thing or bad thing but hey. Anyway it got to a point where he mentioned the porn website joke again and someone said "Yeah the first guy did that". The gig kind of died then! I did feel sorry for him but he was a bit shit to be honest.

After the gig me and Ellie walked home but Matt went to the Oceana night club. We were too tired so we went back to our kitchen, I had some custard and Ellie had some hot chocolate and we sat discussing things such as religion, sex and our friends back home. Was an interesting mix there but they did all relate back to each other trust me! We got given a free pack of condoms and lub that day (just lying on our kitchen table) so Ellie pinned them on the board and I wrote a little note saying "Communal Condoms", we agreed whoever ran out could use them! Lol! Funny times. We also discussed who would want flavoured latex (we got some banana tasting ones, epic lulz). I said I think it's too try and get people to use a condom during oral sex but it's pointless because it kinda defeats the whole point of it! Anyway, enough talk about sex...>_<.

Getting Worse?

To continue on what I did yesterday evening, I did indeed have my pizza. A £1 meat feast pizza from ASDA and man-alive was it good! The problem was, I also cooked some chips and corn to go with it, which proved far too much for even my stomach to handle. My stomach looks small but I can fit a lot in there! Which you'd know if you went to Thorpe Parks' pizza hut with me... Anyway, as I was eating Ellie came in to make herself some pasta, we had a chat about how our days had been. I complained about depressing lectures and arsehole lecturers and she understood what I meant. She then, after dinner, suddenly realised she had to have a passport style photo for tomorrow mornings lesson. We didn't know where a photo booth was but we thought Sainsburys might have one and it would still be open. She also told me I had a card in reception, she would have brought it up for me but you can only take your own post! I said to her that I'd go with her to get her photos as I needed to get some bread anyway, we could also save some time by buying some cleaning products because we'd got our cleaning roters that day. I've got the toilet and shower to do this week so not *too* bad. We all have to swap every week anyway but it's a little unfair because there's only three of us we have a lot more the clean than everyone else! Other flats just have ONE item to clean each! It sucks but we've all planned to do our cleaning the day before they come and check that you've done it. If you haven't done it the cleaners do it and they charge you a MINIMUM of £18! £11 administration fee my arse!

So yes we popped off to reception together, I got my post, it was a card from my aunt and uncle wishing me good luck in my studies. No money inside though. Boo! Still, it was very sweet of them! I told my sister to tell my mum to thank them for me! Ellie found out there was a photo booth at the Spaced bar so we walked to the Uni to find it. We couldn't get inside the bar though, they hadn't opened to the public yet so the woman wouldn't even let us use the booth quickly! They had a hypnotist coming tonight you see, if it was Derren Brown, and yes, I'm aware he's not a hypnotist, I would have been more interested but hey, I needed a night off! The lady said that the bar would open in 40 minutes and then we could come back and use it. We said okay and walked down to the shops to get the cleaning stuff and my bread.

We came across a Costcutter, looked inside and they had a photo booth! Result! So I let Ellie get on with it whilst trying to avoid catching the eyes of the very scary shopkeepers. Eventually she was all done and we went to Lidl to pick up what we needed. Ellie had some cleaning stuff already so she said we could use that first before buying anymore. We got a couple of cleaning products and I picked up some English Muffins (I'm planning to make some of Alexs' mini pizzas) and some bread for 50p each. Winrar. As we were queuing, I saw a poster advertising various deals Lidl had going on. Hobgoblin beer, one of Alexs' favourites I believe, was £1! I thought, next time I have money, I'm so shocking up of beer! Proper beer. None of that Fosters shit everyone else is drinking! Eww. We'd got what we needed so we headed back to our halls. I needed a shower but I'd left my laptop on, I went to check it and found Alex and Iain talking to me. I spoke briefly with both before saying I needed to have a shower and went.

The shower is still terrible. They replaced the shower head so at least we have more water pressure but the water still changes from boiling hot (you actually feel as if you're going to get 3rd degree burns, it's that hot, you can hardly touch it) to cold. I don't think that part of the shower is ever going to be fixed so we'll have to live with it. I'm going to love my shower at home when I go back for Crimbo! I got changed into my pyjamas and spoke to Alex and Iain again. Iain was playing Bomberman with Matt but it was failing miserably. Bad times. Alex had to go out to get the electric so he rang me as he did so. He told me my blog was getting worse! Writing wise I mean, spelling, grammar, etc. I felt really bad! I want to write a decent, legible blog. I want my writing to be good quality and I want people to enjoy reading it. So today I have gone a little slower with it to make sure I am writing properly and not rushing it. At least he's being honest though, I like to know if I'm fucking something up so I can improve it!

So anyway, we had a little chat then I decided to watch Dark City which he had lent me. I got the disk out and man was it scratched! I was surprised that it would even play. It was fine at first, then it stuttered a bit but it seemed to get over it. Then later on it completely froze. I knew it wasn't going to work at all. I did think it might be my laptop but I had nothing else running in the background that I knew of. I gave up on Dark City, which was a shame because it was really good to start off with! And instead I watched an episode of Firefly. Firefly is the sci-fi TV series from which Serenity (the film) was born from. I like Serenity so I thought this might be good. It only had one series then was cancelled which is a shame because it is actually really good. The first episode was more like two episodes in one because it was parts 1 and 2 glued together. I watched it then decided to head to bed as I had a 9am lecture in the morning.

I went to bed at around midnight but again, everyone was being so loud outside and I wasn't really feeling that tired. I found it so hard to sleep. It took me about an hour so I am knackered now. Hopefully I will waken up for the comedy show tonight! Should be a laugh, Matt is going too so I will try and go with him.

Depressing Lectures

I got up at 9 this morning because I had a creative writing lecture at 10. Man I was so tired! had breakfast with Ellie then got a text from Matt asking if I wanted to walk with him, so I said I'd meet him outside my hall in 10. Got all my crap together and got out the door and met Matt, we walked together and got the the already full Creative Writing class, we managed to find two seats next to each other though so we sat there and waited for the teacher. All this time, the class was getting fuller and fuller, over 10 people didn't have seats! Finally, about 5 minutes late, the lecturer turned up. He apologised to us and said admin had messed up, this was meant to be a drop in session for questions, not a proper lesson. We were all so annoyed! So we got up and left, I wasn't sure if my Journalism lesson would be the same so just to be safe me and Matt had an hour to kill. We looked around the library, the gym (he wants to join but it's expensive and to me, gyms scare the shit out of me!) and then we sat in the library for a bit and tried to read a Japanese paper (he knows an impressive amount of Japanese!).

When it was 10 to 11, I headed off to lesson and he headed home. We did have a lesson after all, I sat with the girls I met yesterday, it was a lesson based around newspapers. Newspaper journalism is my least favourite part of the subject but of course you have to do it. I really don't enjoy it but hey, I knew this was going to happen. One of the lecturers, who used to work in the Mail, is an absolute arse in my opinion. I like the other one though, haven't learnt their names yet, woops! It might be because he slightly reminds me of Jeff Goldblum and that guy is just awesome for so many reasons. But he doesn't seem like an arse at all, he just seems, well, nice! And more positive than the other one. We did a quiz type thing on what different newspaper jargon meant. Not too hard, got 7 out of 10, though we did work in pairs. For the final part of the lesson, the main head of Journalism (I think) had a talk with us. He had a written out speech and everything. My GOD it was boring! He went on for what seemed like ages! He came across as the biggest nob going. Not even kidding. Bloody newspaper writers always seem to be eh? It was such a depressing speech, he might has well have posted on the wall YOU WON'T GET A JOB! In massive letters. He was saying you won't get a job in Journalism with this degree, you need experience, etc. I know that. But in my opinion, people seem to get "where they are today" by sheer luck 80% of the time. So yeah, the boring quiz just scared the shit out of me, making me think I'm going to be stuck in a dead end job for the rest of my life, thanks alot! Very helpful in your first week! At least the other guy finished the lesson with "well done for getting here, you guys had great results, you needed the highest results than any other department, so you can do it.". That kind of helped things I suppose.

The rest of today I'm just going to chill out I think, I don't want to go out tonight, I'm knackered and there's not much going on really. I'm thinking, pizza, chips and corn for dinner, a shower either before or after dinner then I'll watch one of the films Alex leant me. Need to get watching them before he moans at me!

PJ party faiiiiil

Last night was a bit of a disppointment. It was meant to be a pyjama party so Matt came round and was in the kitchen with Ellie. I popped into the kitchen and said I'd be in soon, I was just trying to order some books for creative writing. I was waiting for my dad to call so I could chat to him and get his credit card details off him to order books from amazon because I do not have £30 to spend on books. Eventually, after asking my sister to pester him he rang me, we spoke about a few things, he asked if I was actually cooking (Made spag bol last night even with a proper dodgy cooker!) and stuff. He gave me his details, filled it all out was all ok. Postal strike doesn't seem to be affecting us so hopefully they won't take too long to get here, mind you some are coming from the US :/. Anyway I told him I better get going because I'd be going out soon, was nice to speak to him though. Communication is always a bit iffy via facebook.

I got into my matching blue penguin pyjamas and big fluffy dog slippers (everyone loved those!) and walked into the kitchen "ta da!" style. Matt was in a dressing gown which seemed to be the favoured choice of the boys to wear to these things. Had a bit of a chat with both Matt and Ellie then Matt wanted to tell us a secret. We promised we wouldn't tell anyone, since no uni friends read or even know about this blog I think it's safe to say here. But anyway he confessed that he was gay and he hasn't sort of announced it yet! I was shocked but said it was cool and I have other gay friends. Ellie was completly fine with it too, think he was releaved to get it off his chest. I can understand why he wouldn't tell anyone, he doesn't want to be labelled as "the gay guy". He's not exactly camp so you would never tell but he's not overly masculine either so it's not a *huge* shock. It must be so hard to be gay, I mean how do you even say it? Do you wait until it comes up in conversation or what? He said he'd been surprised that everyones reactions had been good so far so I'm happy for him. I said if anyone was nasty I'd beat the shit out of him because I'm very pro-choice with just about everything. He was very thankful to me and Ellie, think we'll be really good friends from now on :).

A girl from downstairs, she seemed pretty drunk, invited us 3 to come downstairs and join them. So we thought why not and went downstairs to say hi to everyone living there. She said "Excuse the mess in my room" and as we walked past it. I couldn't believe how messy it was!!!! There was clothes and other random crap EVERYWHERE. She must have only been here for 2 days, how is that possible?! I couldn't live like that at all. Things have to be tidy, I'm not a neat freak, no way no how but I like to have things so I can actually find them and live in a nice flat/house/room/whatever! If any of you ever have the honour of living with me (Minion mansion? ;) ) at least you'll know I'll be fairly clean and tidy! Promise. :D

Everyone seemed to be drunk on this floor, it was the full on party floor. The girl who invited us down sat us in the kitchen and at one point said she was going to "top up her make-up". You should have seen her make-up. She must have been wearing foundation, full on over the top blusher and blue eyeshadow. If anything she needed less make-up! I didn't even bother to wear any that day. I feel okay without it now. It's still nice to wear but not vital in my opinion, though many a woman would disagree I'm sure. I recognised a girl there I'd seen this morning. She'd knocked on my corridor door and said she needed some help because one of her flatmates had a boyfriend staying over. She was the only one on the floor and she got asked to keep and eye on him but she actually wanted to go out at some point which is understandable! He was asleep and wouldn't move, she poked him and he told her to "fuck off", charming. I said just leave him, it will be fine, everyones room will be locked apart from hers so he can't steal anything unless he wants to steal a toaster from the kitchen. She thought about it then decided that's what she'd do so she thanked me and left. Strange goings on :/.

Anyway, it was pretty boring down there, they were about to leave though so we left with them. A couple of them were in their pyjamas. We walked down to the Knights Park bar with Ralph (who wasn't dressed up) and hardly anyone had bothered to dress up! Boring twats! Oh well, I've gotten past feeling a fool in my life I think/hope. We all got a drink at the extremly crowded bar and sat down outside because it was far too warm and loud inside. Me and Matt spent almost the entire evening talking about video games! It was fantastic! We talked about Home, COD, Resi 5, Rayman, LBP and so on. One bad side, he doesn't play MGS! :O And he said he's not very good at Resi, I told him I'd done it on hard and was basically an expert because I've played it so much, can't get enough of it. He said he needed me! Mind you, if I play Resi with another man I think Alex will feel betrayed!!! I am his Sheva! Ahaha! Just not the crappy AI version :P.

People seemed to love my pyjamas though! One girl ran up to me, all excited, asking if I watched Flight of the Conchords. I said I'd only seen the odd clips of it. She said I had the exact same pyjamas as one of the characters and that after she say him wearning them she wanted some. So she told me I was awesome! Well, clearly, she has taste :D. Lots of people seemed to like my big, furry dogs on my feet too, so it was a minor success :). Just wish I had a camera to have taken some pics! D'oh :(. Alex went to the wrong bar! He had a camera, he took some pics the other night and put them on facebook. I'm mid-laugh in most of them :/ attractive! lol.

We left when the bar closed, about 11:30, maybe a little earlier, we were really tired and I knew I had to get up early-ish tomorrow so we walked home with Lewis now added to the group too. Got home, had a chat with Alex but only for a wee bit, then tried to get to sleep. Though that is hard when there are so many drunks outside shouting! Gotta get used to it!

Creative writing?

I went to my first "lectures" today, they weren't really lectures, more like introductions to the courses. Journalism was up first, didn't have to get up early thankfully but now I'm a uni I'm finding myself being awake earlier than I would be at home. Maybe because it's the fact my mind subconsciously knows I'm not in my own bed? But I've never had problems with that before, odd! Anyway, I walked down there, found the building and room really easily, walked in and the room was half full already, obviously people liked to get here early! A girl with bright blonde hair (I'm sick of seeing fake blondes now, new trend please) was walking behind me and I said to her "where shall we sit?". Half of the seats were full up so we were the first people to sit on the other side of the room, "let's be the rejects" she said but the room soon overflowed with students! I was amazed at how many of us there were! Another blonde girl sat next to us, she was 20, got talking to each other, found out this other blonde girl (Natalie I think) was doing the exact same subjects as me, yay! The very tanned blonde girl (Lily) said she was also talking Spanish, and that she'd moved from Spain! She hardly knows anyone in England, though you can tell she's English, not Spanish.

Anyway the lecture started, wasn't bad, so many people arrived late! I'd hate to arrive late on my first day!!!! At the end some guy who seems like a prick, though he does work for newspapers so what do you expect, made us do a news quiz. The quiz was based on what had been in the news fairly recently. The problem is, my parents got the daily mail everyday, and now I'm not living there I don't flick through the the paper or watch the news on TV so it seems as if I'll have to make an effort of checking websites! So I got a glorious 9 out of 30. Some smart bitch got 29 out of 30. Natalie got the same as me and poor Lily only got 3! So I didn't feel *too* bad. After that had finished we said we'd see Lily tomorrow and me and Nat tried to find tower block, room 9. Luckily she knew exactly where the building was as her friend had told her this morning, woop! So we got to lesson 15 minutes early, had a chat about a few things before lesson started.

Was a good lecture, though I'm a bit scared of how much work there's going to be as well as tons of reading and I still need to order a load of books from Amazon, have asked mum via facebook for advice on that. One I need to read by week 3 so I might have to go down to the local bookshop and buy that brand new, could be an ouch :/ but we'll see. SO hoping my loan came through today :S. At the end of the class we did a bit of spotanious writing, he called it automatic writing, a phrase that has too many stigmas attached to it. It was Derren Brown or psychic style, it was more like write the first things that come into your head. So the first question was gender? Then age? Occupation? One regret? and one dream? I chose:

Female
24
Teacher
Wanted to be a dancer
To find the love of their life

This was literally the first things that popped into my head, we weren't allowed to think about it too much. Then he said write a paragraph about this character and then and there we just had to write. I think everyone found it surprisingly easy, this is what I wrote:

"I'm Sarah, I'm a teacher, 24 and a boring, old teacher. I teach dance for a load of bratty students who don't apprciate the art of it. Why do I teach dance? Because I never made it as a dancer. Much like the P.E teachers who never made it as a footballer. I live by myself in a cold, lonely flat which I can bearly pay for. Maybe my life would be a little better if I had someone to share it with. But who is interested in dating a teacher? People are actually scared of it, like I'm marking them out of 10 or something. The other teachers reject me too, they are much older than me and dance is not an academic subject..."

I wrote the above paragraph on the spot, very little thought going into it at all. Which, the lecturer said was a good way to create a story, a character, just don't think about it too much. And he's right, there are many times I've wanted to write about something, but have thought about it too much, it needs to just happen! As I read back the paragraph, I realised the main inspiration for it was from my old Sociology teacher, she too was very young for a teacher and used to tell us stories about her life. I remember her telling us about how people react when you tell them you're a teacher, they suddenly get a lot more serious, etc. So, without realising it, I released my inner inspiration! A neat trick. He was also going on about details, when you're writing, include the little details, it makes a story. I try to do this, to an extent in my blogs. I'm amazed anyone actually bothers to read this thing but the fact that people do, drives me to write more. Hopefully by writing this, this counts as being creative to an extent!

I walked home from the lecture, thought some guy was going to run me over on the way home but he just drove by and winked at me from out the window. Creep. Now I'm back here. Chilling out, everything's been mental recently! Stuff will calm down after freshers I hope. Can't afford to be out EVERY night! Must go and make spag bol now, or at least attempt to! Am starving! Pyjama party tonight! Should be a laugh :D.

Sunday 20 September 2009

A fun filled sunday!

Well, didn't think I'd be so busy today! Got up 10:30ish and decided to try out the shower. Man it is bad. There's hardly any water pressure, which I can live with but it, on a regular basis, changes from boiling hot to freezing cold. It is pretty awful. It was so hot when it was hot I felt like it would burn me so I had to press myself up again the wall. Not good. Somehow managed to survive, got changed, had breakfast, met Ellie in the kitchen, exchanged thoughts of the awful shower so after breakfast I went downstairs to reception to write a complaint in the book. Though something tells me it will be a miracle if they ever fix it. Fuck. Ellie said she was going into town to get some food bits and invited me along so I thought, fuck it, why not, it's a lovely day.

We met Ralph downtown who was trying to get his bearings, poor guy haha. We found Lidl which may now be out best friend for food from now on, dodgy German food but food none the less. Ellie brought loads of veg for £3, winrar. We then found 99p store right next to Lidl, I needed scissors so we went and had a look. But did they have any? Did they fuck! The only pair I could find were for cutting hair :/. 3 pairs of scissors and a comb for 99p. Fuck it, I thought, and brought them. Though I got IDed for buying damn scissors! Thank God I had my passport with me! Jesus do I look like a crazy bitch who's going to go round stabbing people? Okay, fair enough...point taken! Ellie didn't need anything else so we walked back, had lunch, took out the bin bag together, checked for mail, nadda, went back upstairs to retreat for the BBQ.

I didn't end up sitting around for long, poor old Bossman had started chatting to me again then Ellie had knocked on my door saying some bloke she met off the facebook middle mill (the halls I live in) group had called her and invited her down to the Space bar and to bring any friends. She asked if I fancied it and I thought why not. So I showed her how to get to Space (the main student bar) because she didn't know, I also showed her where she had to enrole on tuesday. We got there, she didn't remember what he looked like, we sat there nervously thinking it could be anyone of these guys. The bar was full of guys. The Man U VS Man City football match was on you see! Though Ellie said they were playing pool which narrowed it down to two people. She thought she knew who it was so we walked over..."Are you Alex?" she asked a guy who looked a little older than us. He said yes and said hi to us both, he also introduced us to his friend Warick, unusual name, dead easy to remember. Oh and guess what, Alex is an absolute nutter (I think it runs in the name y'know). We also met a really cool French guy called marcellius (not sure how you spell it!), speaks amazing English, puts us all to shame, love his accent too. I really love the French language/accent.

So we walked back with this group of guys for the BBQ at 4pm. BBQ was good, free burger, chicken and water (shame it wasn't beer!) and great conversation and people. They had a performer there who did some kinda cool circus type tricks, tried to get us all spinning plates, meh, boring. There was also a giant jenga and connect 4 set which I didn't play. There was a local radio station there which played decent music, chart stuff but not bad but the woman who was trying to chat to people and stuff was SO annoying. She was annoying up the point where she walked up to a guy with her microphone and said "What's your name?". He responded "Please don't talk to me", classic! Unfortunately for him, she was persistent! I met lots of different people there too, not all of them stuck out for me but we met and American girl and it was interesting to talk about the differences in her country and politics and stuff. Really, really interesting.

The BBQ got quite boring after a while, we left a little early and went back to Rachel and Ralphs again for a little bit before we decided to go back and sort out our stuff before going to this supposed pub crawl. Spoke to Alex on the phone again for a little bit, telling him about my day and the wide variety of people we'd met (including crazy Alex who wore a red wig to the BBQ and then left it on alllll night, funny guy). We then headed out soon afterwards to Knights bar where they were having a karaoke thing going on. Such good fun. Matt was so drunk he let me and Ellie choose a song for him, we chose Hit me baby one more time! And he did it! People LOVED him for it, shaking his hand, saying he had balls (talk about pointing out the obvious :P), etc. He was so drunk though he went home before 10. Not even kidding. He's a massive lightweight, think he threw up as someone was walking him home. Oh dear, he's going to feel so bad in the morning! Alex was trying to get as many people as possible down to our local pub, The Cocoanut, so we went along, sat down with Lewis (another great guy, kinda reminds me of the Janitor from Scrubs but on drugs or something...he's very...jittery but fantastic), Warick, Alex, the french dude, Rach and Ralph. We had some VERY strange conversations, something about the size of dicks and Rach said something like "Us women don't want our vaginas ripped in half". Alex had his mouth wide open, it was so funny how she came out with that! Warick seems to be a bit of woman hater, is a bit bitter about his ex and was saying that all women eat mens hearts, etc. Though I think he was largely joking!

When it got to about 11 we left, me, Ellie, Lewis, Rach and Ralph went back to Rachs' again! We hung out there for a bit, had some laughs, Rach was so pissed and Ralph was practically falling asleep so we left at 12 to let them go to bed and to get some rest ourselves. Except me who's stayed up for an hour writing two whole blogs. Enjoy! Haha. Course meetings tomorrow, thankfully the first one is at 12:45. WIN. Though it means I finish at 4. Boo. But then, pyjama party baby! :D Can't wait, shall be a laugh :).

More new friends! :O

The main highlight of my day yesterday was meeting Ellie, my new neighbour as it were. I went into the kitchen to throw away a banana skin as I spotted her and her mum, they were being briefly shown around the kitchen. I then said "You must be my new neighbour then!" and introduced myself. Her and her mum were really lovely, I showed them where the shower and toilet was then let them get on with unpacking or whatever. I then went out shopping to Sainsburys and brought a few bits for dinner.

Later on when it came to making dinner? Ahaha. I turned the knob that said "oven" on the cooker (as you do), waited for it to heat up...nothing. Ahh fuck. I'd defiantly turned it on. I had already marinaded the chicken in sticky BBQ sauce. I caught Ellie in the corridor with her mum so I asked her mum for advice just to check I wasn't being an idiot! We checked the cooker over. I knew the hobbs worked so it wasn't broken. I said "Oh no how am I going to cook this chicken?!" Ellies' mum suggested I grilled it. Okay, so I carefully somehow managed to take the sticky chicken from inside a bowl onto the grill. Very messy stuff, sticky BBQ sauce everywhere. By this time the rest of Ellies' family had appeared, her sister, younger brother and her dad. Her dad commented on how good to chicken looked. Too fucking right mate! So turned the grill on waited...stuck my hand inside nothing. I paniced yet again, looks as if I was going to have to fry it but I had no idea how to do that and with that sauce it would have been super messy. Then I realised there was heat coming from underneath...some monkey had labelled the oven as the grill and vice versa. Face. Palm.

Sooo after 40 minutes I had a lush meal of chicken, chips and sweetcorn. Thank God Alex has taught me how to cook something haha! Quite a big meal, just what you need when you're going to go out drinking later! Matt had text me just before dinner about going out if I fancied it, etc. I said yeah totally and mentioned it to Ellie so she could come out and meet some people. She told me to let her know if anything was going on, I said I would. Nothing happened till around 9, which is what i'd expected from the previous night, then Andre, a really cool freshers angel knocked on our floor door, I answered it, had a chat with him. He'd seen Alexs' car the other night and he was so jealous of it, asking what car it was and stuff. He loved it, said to meet in the carpark at 9 again and to bring my flatmates. I knocked on Ellies' door and told her but of course John was out, he has mates he knew from college/school in the halls next door so he's always out with them. Which is a little weird because then he's not making new friends but oh well, his choice.

So we headed out, met up with some others and headed off to Knights bar again, we ended up staying there, it's getting more and more bearable every night I think! It closed at 11:30 though so we headed back to some of out new friends kitchen in their block. Rachel (looks like and is an art student, bright pink hair, amazing girl) and Ralph (extremly funny drunk who walked into some bins on the way back and Rachel was helping him the entire way!). Matt came along with us too, love Matt, he's great. We sat around there table, talking about random shit, including gaming and peter andre and Jordan. Rachel was making a point of how much she hated Jordan and that "We've all got fantastic tits because they're real!". Good point, Rach, good point indeed. And hence was born the running joke of "sky remote penis". Jordan once described Peters dick as a sky remote. Seriously, wtf! xD I was laughing until tears that night, mainly because of drunken Ralph haha!

Eventually we headed back, said by the Matt and went to bed. All in all a damn good night. :)

Day 2

My first night at uni was not a great one, sleeping wise. My room was freezing due to the radiator not working and my window being broken so a slight breeze came through. It also means I can hear every drunken idiot outside at night, great. I got to sleep eventually though and didn't wake up too late either.

I got up at a rather early 10am, though the guy next door always seems to get up alot earlier! Crazy guy! Unless he had to for enrolment maybe. I should stop calling him the guy next door, his name is John lol. Anyway, last night I realised I'd forgotten a toothbrush so I decided it was vital to go and buy one! I walked down to the shops, sorted out some savings account stuff, found the Sainsburys, huzzah! And then I went into Boots and brought a toothbrush for a quid. Can't go wrong really! I had to use one of those stupid self checkouts, I really do not like them. It's like, what's the point in replacing humans with machines? And they still have to have staff there in case someone doesn't know how to use them or whatever. Utterly pointless if you ask me. Anyway, some Asian woman was helping me out and then said I had a special receipt meaning I could enter a prize draw of £1000 if I rung up this free number and said she provided good service. Pah! Special customer my arse. She wrote her name on the receipt so I could say what great service she'd given me *cough*. I wasn't going to ring the number, even if it was free phone my mobile still may have charged me, didn't want to risk it.

Walked home, realised how godamn lonely I was again, got home and cried. Pathetic I know but I just miss being around people. When you're around your family every single day it's weird when they're suddenly not there! I know I'll get used to it but I just felt awful. I think speaking to my parents on facebook has made it worse, makes me tearful every time I speak to them but at the same time I can't not speak to them! Argh! Dilemmas.

I spent the rest of the afternoon on the computer, talking to various people, trying to feel better about things. Had a banana for lunch as I wasn't really that hungry and it was healthy at least. Then I decided to play my psp in the kitchen for a bit incase I bumped into John. The plan sort of worked, as I was heading back to my room I bumped into him, said hi, asked how he was, etc. He mentioned last night "I knocked on your door but you didn't come out". I said I had a friend round so I couldn't really come out, I asked if I missed much, he said only 10 of them came out and it was really awkward. So in a way I'm glad I saw Alex instead of go out with them if it was that lame! Alex liked my room, was amazed at how big it was I think! Though directing him here was a bit of a kerfuffle! He also dropped me off a load of geeky DVDs to watch when I'm bored one day/night. Woop! I also lent him the resident evil animation on DVD because I thought it was really good, hopefully he enjoys it.

Anyway I was super excited because John said they might all be going out again tonight so I told him to give me a knock, he said he would and he went off out to see his mate. Spent some more time on the comp before heading out to get enroled. I asked reception which was the quickest way to get to the campus, was told of a new way to go that would take me to the back of it. Found the building I needed to go easily as I'd seen it on open day. I was amazed at how long the queue was, unfortunatly the people standing next to me in the queue weren't very talkable, there was one guy stood infront of me on his phone and behind me were two girls taking in Chinese to each other, fail. Had a brief word with some of the other people I met, had to queue several times for things. The whole process took about 50 minutes but it didn't seem that long. Got my ID card in the end, I look so tired in the picture but oh well!

Walked back to my room, made dinner of beans on toast (I know, I know, was going to have pasta but I had no sauce, failcats.). I need to buy some sauce for my chicken breasts today! Will eat one today and freeze the other one before it goes off. If I can ever be arsed to go out :/. I need to otherwise dinner will consist of nothing much tonight :P.

I waited around talking on msn and such, no knock on my door, was thinking I was never going to go out. Then I heard someone knocking on my corridor door (which is a locked door from the outside), so I opened the door and there were two girls there. "Freshers Angels" who were inviting people out, as I was desperate to go out I of course said yes. They said 20 minutes in the carpark. So I got ready and went outside, there was a group of people in the middle of the carpark. I saw John and asked if this was everyone who was going out, it was and there was a lot of them. A lot more than 10 anyway! Got talking to some of Johns' friends, found out they all knew each other before uni, so that's where he's been going all this time! Made me feel better as he only had friends because he already knew them! Later on when in the student pub just down the road from our halls, I got talking to some much nicer people. A guy called Matthew (possible PS3 gaming buddy!) who hung out with a load of girls, hannah and bianca were the ones I spoke to the most though, they were really nice.

The first pub we were at, drink were dirt cheap, rum and coke for £1.60! Even Matthew brought me a drink, was nice of him, I returned the favour when we moved onto a better student pub though. That one was crawling with students, absoutly packed, amazed me how anyone managed to play pool in there! Drinks were still cheap, yay! Will be going there in future, might go there during the day too if the others invite me. We left quite early because some people had to get up early tomorrow to meet parents and Matthew had had a few too many and he didn't want to be ill again so I walked home with Matt, hannah and bianca. We went back to Matthews halls and sat in the kitchen for a bit just chatting. It was about 00:20 when Bianca said she was heading upstairs to bed, I said I had better go too as I was knackered and my body really was starting to ache. So I said goodbye to everyone, nice to meet you, etc and I walked back to my halls which were next door. Got home, text Alex and was on the phone to him until stupid o'clock. What a day! Feel so much better about everything now :).

Moving in...

So omg. It comes to the day where I actually have to move out. I've wanted this for so long but now it's just a bit scary! My sister came into my room this morning, early, to say goodbye and give me a hug. I was half asleep and couldn't really open my eyes but I tried my best. Last thing I really wanted was a tearful goodbye anyway. Later on when I was up and dressed, my mum took the dog for a walk and then my auntie and uncle arrived. We packed everything in the car, was amazed it all fitted in! Then, because we got it all done so quickly, we waited around ages for mum to come back with the dog! Eventually she came back so we could get going. Only took us an hour and a half to get there, not too bad. We were a little early to collect keys but there was hardly anyone there so it was okay. She gave me 4 keys, 2 big ones, 2 little ones. It's a little tricky remembering which is which but I think I'll catch on quick.

We packed all my food stuffs in my lockable cupboard (pretty handy) and unpacked most things out of the boxes they needed to take home with them. We then decided to try and find the shops. We went out the back way and eventually found our way to the town centre (i'm only about 10 minutes walk from the Uni and shops, not bad). We went into Bentals and they had an American style on the 3rd floor so I had my (probably) last hearty meal, milkshake, burger and chips. Was yummy but so filling I'm not going to eat dinner tonight! We then decided to get to a supermarket we'd have to use the car to find one. So we walked back to the halls, popped into reception to get a map and a guy there asked if I was going to be here tonight and asked if so, if I was I up for going to a pub tonight with the other people staying in the halls. I said yes even though I didn't know what I was going to actually do about tonight.

Anyway, we went to find a supermarket, found an ASDA by accident, brought some last minute fridge/freezer things and then went back. I took my shopping out of the car and then Alan and Elaine (my uncle and aunt) said goodbye then and there to let me and mum say goodbye alone. My mum went upstairs with me and helped put some of my foods stuffs away, I could feel myself going (emotionally, I mean) when I was in the kitchen because I knew she would be leaving me soon. We went to my room, I hugged her and started crying immediatly. My mum didn't cry. I was shocked to say the least. I think she was shocked too "I didn't think you'd be like this" she said. Then when she finally left she didn't want to leave me because I was upset but knew she had to so she did.

So to cheer myself up I set up the internet connection which was dead easy, wired connection to the wall so no problems whatsoever, amazed at how simple it is! Spoke to a couple of people on MSN about stuff whilst unpacking everything else. Realised no remote with my TV = I can't play with my gamecube :/ fail will have to get my parents to find it and bring it to me when they visit. Something about having your own set of keys and wondering about by yourself is actually very nice, I feel very independant. Still a bit tearful (just had another cry moments ago from talking to my mum on msn) but I'll get over it. It's going to be weird for a while I guess. I said hello to the guy living opposite me, seems nice enough, the other room isn't moved into yet, or they moved in later as I haven't seen them yet. I'm hoping they're at breakfast tomorrow in the kitchen so I can get to know them a little better!

I should have gone out tonight really but I didn't, I am very tired and emotional. I spose it would have taken my mind off it a bit but to being going out (with a guy trying to get me drunk) when I've just moved in is a bit too much for me at the moment I'm afraid! Plus I'm on antibiotics, can't exactly get rat-arsed when I'm taking those! Would probably be okay but don't really want to risk being ill at uni! Only need to take them for one more day anyway :). There's a BBQ on sunday afternoon with free food and drink to meet all the other people staying in the halls! Win! Am definatly going to that, will be a good way to make up for tonight and you can never say no to free food and drink :). It's very strange, sitting here by myself. It's cold, the window is broken (they said they'd fix it) and my heater doesn't seem to work :/. Great start lol. Will go down to reception to tell them tomorrow and I'll ask if there's anything going on during the day because I don't have to enrole until 4pm!

Pretty short-ish blog for such a bit day but I'm rather over-whelmed by it all! I'm sure I'll feel better tomorrow. Just gotta get used to being alone(ish). X

FUUUU-

Cannot believe I'm going to uni tomorrow! It's mental! I'm shitting myself lol. I woke up to a text from Marnie, asking what time I wanted her, Alice and Bex to come round. I text back 3:30. Nice and simple right? Well you will find out later...

Once I gotten dressed, taken all my meds and eaten some toast. I went for a walk with mum and the dog up to my nan and grandads. They're on holiday in Blackpool at the moment so they wanted us to water the plants and stuff. There wasn't much to do when we got there so we were in and out in no time but it was nice to get out for a bit. When I got back I stuck on some Nightwish, burnt some incense and got packing! The food stuff and most of the kitchen stuff was already done so it was just packing more personal things really. Got a suitcase full of clothes, a box full of shoes and two dressing up costumes (never know when you'll need those!), photos, stationary, make-up, jewellary. So. Much. Crap! I really don't know how this will all go in the car but it best do!!! My mum made me some tea while I packed and helped me out with a few things but I did most of it myself. Spoke to Alex on the phone for a bit to take a little break from packing. Finished off, then went downstairs and ate lunch, which consisted of chocolate cake and lemonade. Hmm.

So then it was time to wait for my friends to come round. Alice turned up and we sat down and talked for a bit, I wondered where Marn and Bex were. Alice said Bex couldn't come because she was working so I though fair enough. But I thought she'd finished work now??? Oh well, maybe she got an extra shift or something. I then got a text from marn saying: "Hi I'm sure your busy. I'm going to pop to town to get something. So if your free I could pop round after? Whens alice seeing you?". I just flipped. For fucks sake. What part of I'm free at 3:30 so come round then don't you understand?! Alice thought it was rather funny! We both agreed we have no idea how that girl thinks sometimes. I was really pissed off. Why bother Marnie, why fucking bother. Eugh. So me and Alice had a good old bitch about marnie and a chat about uni stuff before she had to go off to work. I got on my tip-toes and gave her a big hug (yes she's really that tall compared to me :P). I'm going to miss her so much! We had an emotional goodbye (don't worry, we didn't cry lol) and off she went.

Later on Marn came round for a bit, we just stood and the doorstep and talked. As we were talking, a man who was running stopped and asked "Is that your baby?" and pointed to a toddler (who I hadn't noticed was there.). Some woman in her car was also shouting to me that the kid could just wonder into the road. For fucks sake. I didn't see it, it was behind a wall. One, don't insult me by suggesting I have a 2 year old. Two, lady, shut up. He was fine. He was just standing there on the pavement, looking quite happy with a bottle in his mouth. She told me to "grab the kid". No. I'm not going to pick up someone elses child! It's not necessary either, unless it was running into the road there is no need to. So I went to next door while the runner and Marn kept an eye on the kid. I shouted, no less than four times "Hello is anyone in? Can you hear me?" (the door was open but there was no doorbell to ring). Finally, the grandmother of the child came out (shouting her grandsons name) and she realised the door was open I said "Yeah he's outside". She rushed past me and scooped him up into his arms. He was grinning away quite happy. No harm done but she should have been more careful! No thank you, she just rushed inside with him. You're welcome -__-. Sigh.

Later on it was MGO time. Only 4 people turned up, Iain, John, Stew and epicsteve. Was good fun but a bit of a letdown. Alas, you can't expect people to be free on a wednesday night! It was nice of the few that turned up to play anyways. When Stew and JB had left, me, iain and Steve played some worms. Was great fun! :) My dad rang during MGO. Wishing me luck and stuff. I must have sounded a bit cold on the phone but I was trying to desperatly hold back tears! I cried but only after I got off the phone. I don't want to cry tomorrow, but I know I will. So embarassing :(.

About time!

I had my haircut today for the first time in over a year! (See pic above). Me and mum went to the hairdressers this morning together as she was getting her hair done too, my mum was treating me yay. There was hardly anyone in the hairdressers but it was taking ages for anyone to see to us. There was one woman storming around and we could hear some shouting/argueing going on in the back. I was getting rather annoyed that we were kind of getting ignored, especially when we'd rushed out of the house especially. After being 15 minutes late, a woman came out to cut my hair, her eyes were red and watery, she'd obviously been crying. My mum asked if she was okay but obviously she wasn't going to say what was going on. Bit of a drama going on of some sort but she was okay I think :/. She took a few inches off my hair and layered it but when she'd finished it blimey it was short! I think I'll grow to like it though and I'm sure it will grow back soon. Probably needed a fair bit chopping off anyway, she did notice it hadn't been done in a while! Woops!

When I came home and tweeted about having my haircut, for some very odd reason, Tim from OPM asked for a twitpic! John had also asked for one last night so I waited for my hair to dry off a bit, took a pic on my phone and uploaded it. Tim replied saying: Looks strong and not too short at all. Not sure what strong means but it was nice of him all the same. Rachet also commented on my pic saying it was cute. Aww ^_^. So I feel better about my hair now thanks to OPM haha!

I forgot to mention in yesterdays blog that yesterday I saw my dad for the last time! :(. He'd gone to work for a few days, hence why my auntie and uncle are taking me to uni, plus they have a nice big car...I hope :S. My mum said they might come up to Kingston sometime to go for a walk so they might come and see me but I don't HAVE to see them if I don't want to. I think I'd like to though, obviously it depends if I'm busy but I'm sure I can make time for my parents! Plus, I'm sure a free lunch would be involved ;).

Because I can't go out tonight, Alex said he'd play mercenaries with me which will be good fun. I'll try to be a little better this time :S. Marnie spoke to me last night on msn, she sort of invited herself round on wednesday, along with the others. Does she have to plan everything? Still it will be nice to say goodbye to them, I'll just have to let them know they can't stay for long because I'll have to be getting ready of course and packing and stuff. I am the first one to leave though which is why people seem to be fussing lol. Amy said she'd really miss me, was really sweet of her to say. I promised her we'd have new years drinks or something as I was coming home on the 18th December.

Trip to the docs (after many a person nagging me to)

So, I got up at 9am this morning because I needed to phone the doc. When I got out of bed I was literally moaning with pain. I was in agony, I somehow managed to get downstairs, my dad was watching the Grand Prix. I felt rather sick so I took a lie down on the sofa for a bit, trying to find a position were it didn't hurt. I eventually felt well enough to phone the Doctors. It took me a couple of attempts to get though, it's always busy on a Monday of course. But I got an appointment for 11:20. Not bad considering, as I waited, time took an absolute age to pass I read some more of The History Boys, a boring, unfunny play I have to read for my Uni course. Eventually the time came, I'm only a 10 minute walk from the doctors but since my dad was still around and walking was very painful, my dad gave me a lift and said to ring him when I wanted to be picked back up while he did some jobs that needed doing.

I went in, got my number, took my seat and started to read the rest of my book. I had to wait a fair bit but not too long, having something to read really helped take my mind off things too. The waiting room was full of old people and I was paranoid they were all thinking I was here because I thought I was pregnant! A stupid thing to think but I know what older people think of us teens these days! And I was the only young person there. Eventually I got called up as it were, it was with my usual doctor, she's very friendly and nice so I was happy. I told her I'd had a cold for over 2 weeks now and that I think I'd pulled a muscle as I was in agony this morning and it doesn't seem to be getting better, just worse. She took my temperature by sticking this thing in my ear. That was fine. Then she used her stethoscope (?) to listen to my breathing on my front and back. Then she lifted up my t-shirt and poked around to see where it hurt/was sore. It didn't hurt too much when she pressed it, which is good, means I haven't broken anything. Next she got my lie down on this bed and she poked around my tummy before concluding I was right, I'd probably pulled a ligament. She also asked if I've been coughing up stuff, I said yes, so I probably have some sort of chest infection. She prescribed me with anti-biotics and said I should take painkillers for the pain. She also said the anti-biotics would interfere with the pill but that's no biggy.

I walked out of the doctors, making my way towards the chemists across the road, as I walked down the road my dad appeared from the corner and said "ah ha!". He'd come to pick me up and I hadn't even rung him yet! Perfect timing. He waited around until I got my pills and laughed at the fact condoms are always under "family planning" when "if you've got one of those on, you're not planning to have a family!". Very true dad, very true. The lady gave me my tablets and a from to fill out. It's a booklet full of questions in order to get free meds. Because I'm in full time education I should be elegible but free stuff runs out once I've had my 19th birthday so I have to send of this form, great.

I got home and asked Alex if he was ready for some Resi action. He'd unexpectantly got the day off from work so it was time to complete vetran mode once and for all! We, of course, were amazing (most of the time) and did indeed complete the game and get the silver trophy! Yay! Now it was time for professional, we were doing okay until I accidently blew up a barrel when Alex was a little too close to it...oopsy! I loled :D. But we soon thereafter realised if you get hit, it's instant death! This is going to be impossible to complete! Well, very very hard, the zombies go down easy with our fully upgraded weapons it's just if you get hit, you die, you rarely even have time to save your partner! This may take a while...we got sick of dying a bajillion times so we played some mercenaries instead but I was failing Alex on that too. I'm usually better at it, honest! I think he got a little too excited when I played as sexy Jill though, haha! And he was jealous at the fact I had Wesker. Gotta help him unlock the extra characters sometime.

Taking some painkillers has helped the pain lots, it still hurts but no way near as much as this morning. I just have to remember to take my meds now. Got to take one 3 times a day. I always remember my pill though so I should be okay with these! It's a bit of a bummer though, I can't go out tomorrow night, for two reasons. One, I can't drink because I'm on medication and I know I could drink soft drinks but who wants to do that?! Two, I'd have to walk to the Reg and I cannot walk far, even with painkillers it's too painful. Oh well. I saw my friends the other night so it's not so bad really.

Sunday 13 September 2009

Aaaand today

Woke up, in pain, very sleepy but got up because it was 11. Dad went off to work early, mum and sister were supposed to be going for a walk but mums friend never woke up in time so they stayed in the house with me. Didn't do much all day until Alex text me and I suggested that we played some more Resi. So it was time to don the headsets and get down to it...err as it were. We pwned some zombies then he had to go because GF was coming home so I played mercenaries by myself until dinner was ready, my last roast dinner for a while! Yum.

Then after dinner I got a text from Iain asking around for MGO, I thought why not and I'm glad I did bother! We had 7 at the peak and I brought an Indy style fedora!!!! It's awesome. Jen got a wee bit jealous, she's going to buy one because it looks like her hat :D. Martyn said: "Smooth Criminal! You've been pwned by, you've been charmed by, a smooth minxical." I loled! We had some fantastic games. Me and M drew on SDM! And me and Iain had an awesome showdown too but he got me! Noooo lol.

That reminds me, this morning I woke up from the weirdest dream. I guess it was like the next minion meet up or something. All I remember was trying to find Alex and Holly because I was afraid Alex was going to tell Holly something. And Martyn said sorry to me (for the thing that happened a while ago) and we said I love you to each other and I jumped up and hugged him, with my legs wrapped round him! Very...disturbing lol! But I'm sure he would have enjoyed it!!!! Very, very odd dreams indeed :S.

Pain but no gain

Yesterday evening I popped round to Alices' after watching the X Factor, I'm glad I turned up 40 minutes later than she orginally said (to watch x-factor) because even when I got round there she was still cooking her dinner for herself and her brother. Her brother, funny and as nice as he is, has just come out of uni and is so damn lazy! It amazes me how his parents put up with him. Alice absoutly adores him though, I think it's a younger sibling thing, to adore your brother/sister, I'm not saying I don't love my sister but I'm no so...vocal about it? I spoke to her about a few things whilst she had dinner, I didn't mind, her brother then went out (don't blame him). So it was just me and Alice sat there talking. Bex and Marn were have supposed to turn up but an hour and half had past from the time she told them to turn up so I said "looks like it just me and you!". We then began talking about Marnie, saying how it was rude of her to say she'll come round, then not turn up. She also text Alice saying "Is jo and Bex coming?", which offended both me and Alice because it was like she was saying "I won't come unless so and so is there". Alice wondered why it mattered and I was annoyed she didn't ask after me.

Just as we were talking about her, the doorbell rang! We looked at each other, shocked and then Alice laughed and said it was probably Bex who said she "might" come, though she was tired from her last day of work. It was both Marn and Bex! Talk about talk of the devil.

My side was really hurting from walking to Alices' it's gotten even worse. I'm going to the doctor on Monday to see if anything needs doing about it. Maybe I have had a chest infection. I'm not sure but I suppose the doctor will either say, sorry there's nothing I can do or prescribe me with something. Oh well, we shall see. Bex needed a superhero costume so we were looking up characters for her to go as but there wasn't much success. She spoke about a lot of different things, Derren Brown, uni, people we used to know at school, etc. I was amazed to find out Marn and Alice both believed that Derren Brown had actually used automatic writing to guess the numbers...I mean I can imagine Marn believeing it but Alice...? Hmm odd. My only statement I need to make: Why did Derren Show us the balls before putting them in the sealed tube eh? That's all I'm saying on the matter. Bex didn't see Derren explaination but she kind of sided with me, funny that someone who believes in God can be so very sceptical on other matters!

I then decided to walk home at 11:30pm. I wouldn't have minded staying longer but I hadn't taken a key and the pain in my side was rather uncomfortable. Marnie was stressing about me walking home by myself because "she wouldn't want to". Jesus Christ you've never worried this much before. I rang my mum to let her know I was coming home so she said she'd take the dog and come and meet me half way. I said my goodbyes and Alice walked me to the door, as I was making my way Marn shouted something about going out tuesday night. For fucks sake, I'd arranged it with Alice! You don't need to act like you're controlling the situation because you're not! Grr. Alice just rolled her eyes at me and said "deep breath" because she was clearly getting irritated too. I said thanks and bye to Alice and left. My side was killing me as I walked down the road. Before it was only certain postitions that seemed to irritate it but now I was getting random twinges of pain. I held my side (like that would somehow help!) and I saw an old man, with long hair on the other side of the street. He was talking quite loudly though I couldn't make out what he was saying. I looked to see if he was talking to someone, either on the phone or with someone beside him. But no, he was having a full-blown conversation with himself! Scary. Though I'm used to it, I do live opposite a mental hospital. I met my mum at the end of the road and walked home with her.

Is there no magic in mystery?

I was speaking to Alice last night on MSN to see what was going on about friday night, as we were meant to be going out. Alice text Marnie to see what was going on, seems marnie hadn't bothered to plan anything, it was her idea! Alice text her back, suggesting we went to a pub because I had hurt myself and Alice wasn't up for clubbing. Marnies' reply wasn't very clear, she said it may be better to go out on a tuesday instead because places are cheap, she also suggested she didn't want to go to a pub. The problem we had was, Marnie was asking us where we wanted to go, and when we suggested something she "didn't quite fancy that". Alice was getting seriously pissed off and agreed that Marnie makes everything complicated! Fantastic! It's not just me being a bitch then, it's true! So I said to Alice, look, after all this we don't feel like going out, it's a little too late to plan anything, let's go to the Reg on tuesday for Crunch (cheap drinks night) and say whoever wants to come can join us. If Marnie wants to go clubbing, Bex can go with her then everyone is happy. So Alice told marnie that but marn was obviously pissed off. She didn't text back and when poor old Bex asked what was going on, Marn just said "ask alice". The cheek of it! As Alice said to me, she has no right to be pissed off, it was her idea, she didn't bother to sort anything out then didn't want to do what we wanted to do. End of. Hence why we are now using the technique "Me and X are going here, come along if you want" it's simple that way.

My mum and dads friends came round for dinner. They'd just came back from America and brought us a few gifts. I got a very odd gift, it was 12 coasters with quotes from Forrest Gump on. Strange but rather cool I suppose, though I'm not sure that I'll need 12 at uni! I also got a nightmare before xmas phone charm (i'll probably attach it to my bag instead) and a hello kitty notepad with the golden gate bridge on it. Odd gifts but very nice indeed. My sister got a rainbow tye dye top, so she looks like a hippie now! I told her she didn't want to be a hippie...We then had dinner together and when we'd finished we were talking about Uni and mum was making a joke about dodgy lecturers, I just laughed then Sooty took it even further talking about boys like I was 14 again or something. Going on about dodgy stuff at uni and all sorts, I was crying my eyes out with laughter! The conversation was so stupid! And Kelv was taking the piss out of what his wife was saying, she always thinks she knows best you see, she went to uni as a mature student. Oh dear. It was rather funny being educated in all things sexual, it's far, far too late for me guys. I am 18 y'know. So funny.

After that I jumped on the PS3 to play some MGO with the boys, I was 45 minutes late but we had some awesome games, one including me and alex in a nailbiting showdown! I had so much fun! I'm really going to miss it! Once most people had left, me and alex stuck our headsets on and played some Resi 5 for a bit. We aced a couple of levels before he had to go, it was damn good fun, we do make an awesome team. I LOVE my fully-upgraded Lightening Hawk, it's go powerful, one shot kills for the most pathetic enemies and not many more for the bigger guys! I've got unlimted ammo on it too so I never have to worry about running out of revolver bullets which can be quite hard to come by!

Later on I watched how Derren Brown did the lottery prediction. Now of course, he didn't reveal the real way he did it but his program was extremly interesting, he is an amazing guy. The thing with the cups and the mouse? Just amazing. Now of course everyone is complaining about how he didn't spill on how he really did it. It's annoying the crap out of me, he's a magician, a magician never reveals his secrets! Also, if he'd just turned around and said "I used a split screen" people would have STILL gone up in uproar because it would have been too simple, too boring. The general public are never happy. They ignored the other cool things he did on the program, just negative, negative, negative as usual. Apparently, some people actually believe his explaination and are trying to use it to win the lottery! Haha, good luck to them I say! People are saying this is a bad thing because he's "decieving people", bullshit. People get tricked everyday, into buying shit via advertising, etc. People are genrally guilable. How do you think the goverment gets away with controlling people? They are like Derren Brown, they know the right things to say to get you to think the way they want you to. Even if more people do now enter the lottery, that's not bad thing, more money going towards charities and projects funded by the lottery. That's no bad thing at all! So stop your bitching and moaning and just enjoy the story ;)
